Before a Chemical Peel

What is a Chemical Peel?
- An acidic solution applied to the skin causing controlled exfoliation
- Treats texture, pigmentation, acne, fine lines, and sun damage
- Depth ranges from superficial (2-5 day recovery) to medium (7-14 days)
Before Your Peel
- Stop retinoids and AHAs/BHAs 5-7 days before treatment
- Avoid sun exposure for 2-4 weeks before treatment
- Darker skin types may need pre-treatment with hydroquinone for 2-4 weeks
- Inform the doctor about any history of cold sores (herpes)
What to Expect
- You will feel a burning or stinging sensation lasting a few minutes
- Treatment takes 15-30 minutes
- Redness and peeling are expected - this is how the treatment works
