Laser Treatments & Lesion Removal

Advanced Laser Treatment for Benign Skin Lesions

Our clinic offers advanced laser treatments for the safe and effective removal of benign skin lesions. Dr. Kaplan combines dermatologic expertise with state-of-the-art laser technology, tailoring each treatment to the specific lesion type, location, and patient needs.

Diagnosis First - Your Safety Is Our Priority

Before any aesthetic or laser treatment, every patient undergoes a thorough clinical and dermoscopic examination. If a lesion is suspected to be malignant, it will be biopsied and sent for pathological analysis. Suspicious lesions are never treated with laser alone - they require surgical excision or Mohs surgery to ensure complete and safe removal.

Conditions We Treat

1

Seborrheic Keratoses

Seborrheic keratoses are common benign growths that appear as raised, waxy, brown or tan lesions. They are among the most common benign skin tumors and typically appear after age 30. While harmless, many patients choose removal for cosmetic reasons or if lesions become irritated.

Treatment approach: Laser treatment precisely removes the keratosis while minimizing damage to surrounding tissue. The number of sessions depends on the size, number, and location of the lesions. Healing is rapid and cosmetic outcomes are excellent.

Viral Warts

Viral warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and can appear anywhere on the body. Common types include common warts on hands, plantar warts on feet, and flat warts. Warts can be stubborn and resistant to conventional treatments.

Treatment approach: Laser treatment offers an effective solution for warts that haven't responded to other therapies. The laser targets the wart tissue and its blood supply, destroying the virus while preserving surrounding healthy skin.

Angiomas & Angiokeratomas

Vascular skin lesions are among the most common reasons patients seek laser treatment. Cherry angiomas appear as small red dots, spider angiomas feature a central red spot with radiating vessels, and angiokeratomas combine dilated blood vessels with a thickened, dark surface. Angiokeratomas are particularly common and often concern patients due to their dark appearance, making professional evaluation and treatment highly sought after.

Treatment approach: Laser treatment selectively targets hemoglobin in the abnormal blood vessels, causing them to collapse and be absorbed by the body. For angiokeratomas, the laser effectively addresses both the vascular and keratotic components. This is one of our most requested treatments due to the prevalence of these lesions and the excellent results laser treatment provides.

Nevi (Moles)

Benign nevi (moles) are common pigmented skin growths. While most moles are harmless, any mole that changes in size, shape, or color should be evaluated by a dermatologist. After thorough dermoscopic examination confirms a mole is benign, laser removal can provide excellent cosmetic results.

Treatment approach: Laser removal of benign moles is performed with precision to achieve optimal cosmetic outcomes. The procedure is quick and typically heals with minimal scarring. Any suspicious features require biopsy before treatment.

Xanthelasma

Xanthelasma are yellowish fatty deposits that appear on or around the eyelids. They are often associated with elevated cholesterol levels. While not medically dangerous, many patients seek removal for cosmetic reasons.

Treatment approach: Laser treatment for xanthelasma requires particular precision due to the delicate eyelid area. Dr. Kaplan's surgical training ensures safe and effective treatment with minimal risk to the surrounding tissue.
